Vintamaps is a small local-business based in Ho Chi Minh City. Our team was born and grew up around a city whose history is written into its streets — old French villas, colonial-era boulevards, names that have changed more than once. That's what drew us to old maps in the first place: they're one of the few things that show you exactly how a place used to look, block by block.
What we actually do
Most of the original maps we work from have not aged well — decades of humidity, storage, and handling leave them stained, torn, or badly faded. Restoring one is slow work: cleaning and scanning the original, then carefully repairing the damage without over-correcting it, so the map still looks and feels like something with real history behind it, not a sterile reprint. Once a map is properly restored, we reproduce it on quality paper or laminate so it holds up for years.
Why we do it
We're not a big operation — just a handful of people who like old maps and think they deserve to be seen rather than left to rot in a box. If you're from Vietnam, one of these might show you a version of your own city you've never seen. If you're visiting, it's a piece of Saigon or Hanoi's history you can actually take home.
